Showit has become my preferred website platform of choice, you can read me wax poetry on why it’s my favorite to recommend small business owners over here and learn why I switched from WordPress to Showit. Since making that big jump, I’ve grown to love the platform even more because of its easy-to-use drag and drop interface that mixes with the power of WordPress blogging.
You might be sitting there reading this saying, “Hey, didn’t she just say that she left WordPress to move to Showit? What am I missing here?”
Well let me break it down for you, because it’s a little confusing at first and I totally understand why you might feel a little lost in all the jargon.
Beloved by visually creative businesses such as photographers, marketers, coaches, and many others, Showit is a code-free website builder that allows for infinite design possibilities! There are no shortage of exceptional Showit templates, I’ve even designed a few myself that live in the Shop, but what’s even better is how easy it is to customize a template once you’re making it your own. It’s truly a drag and drop program and the sky’s the limit in terms of building your dream layout.
Where WordPress comes into the picture is with blogging. If you’ve ever worked with WordPress, you’ll likely be familiar with its blogging interface and know just how powerful a tool this is for SEO and ranking on Google. Showit has partnered with WordPress to be the machine powering your blogs while Showit does the heavy lifting for the design.
That means that you will design everything in Showit, but your blog posts will be published from WordPress — essentially plugging in the blog content to fit your perfectly molded design. It’s truly a wonderful yin and yang! If you want to learn more about how the two mesh together, this article by Showit does a great job of breaking down how they work harmoniously.
Now armed with the understanding of how the two work together, let’s get into the juicy details about why WordPress is such an amazing tool to use for your Blog.
WordPress is hands-down the most powerful CRM in the world, and there’s a good reason for so many businesses using it. Since you still do all of your blogging through WordPress you get all of the power and easy optimization without the headache of code. This is a great bonus if you have team members that you want to help on the content side of things, but don’t necessarily need them to go into the website design. Since the design and blogging are separate, this can be an advantage for you!
With over 50K plugin varieties, there’s no shortage of awesome plugins that can offer you extended functionalities. Every blog or website won’t need additional functionality but it’s great to know that when you switch to Showit you can still have the option to add e-commerce functionality and integrate other third-party apps that you love to use to run your business.
Speaking of plugins, the Yoast plugin is a great tool to help you hit all the must-haves for optimizing your blogs and making them SEO friendly. Yoast comes automatically with Showit plans and is so helpful for getting found by search engines. When I switched from WordPress to Showit, I wasn’t sure if it would impact my SEO and monitored it closely. But with Showit offering a WordPress-backed blogging experience, my SEO stayed the same and with time got better!
So you’re convinced on Showit and ready to make the plunge! Now, how does one begin to go about it? Lucky for you, I’ve put together a straight-forward guide walking you through the necessary steps to move platforms without the headache and confusion!
