For designers, social media has become a tool for businesses and individuals alike to connect with their audience and promote their brands. However, creating and maintaining a consistent social media schedule can be a daunting task. Especially when you’re managing multiple platforms or just starting out.
I recently had one of the students inside my coaching program, Elevate Your Impact Academy, mention she wanted to use Notion for her social media calendar. She wanted an alternative to other platforms and to keep her social calendar all in one spot.
So we decided to explore Notion as a tool for creating a social calendar. And honestly, I was impressed with what Notion can do. In this blog post, we’ll explore how to use Notion to create a social media schedule, map it out in a calendar, and make the whole process repeatable.
The first step in using Notion to create a social media schedule is to create a database. In this database, you will include all the details related to your social media content. To create a database, click on the “Add a Page” button in the top left-hand corner and select “Database.”
Next, choose a name for your database and select “Properties.” Here, you can add properties such as “Date,” “Platform,” “Content,” “Hashtags,” and “Image.” These properties will be used to organize and filter your content in the database.
Once you’ve created the database, you can start adding content to it. For each social media post, fill out the fields in the database. Including the date you plan to post, the platform you’re posting on, the content of the post, any relevant hashtags, and the image you plan to use.
Now that you have your social media schedule database set up, it’s time to map it out in a calendar. Notion has a built-in calendar view that allows you to see your posts in a calendar format.
To add the calendar view, click on the “Add a View” button in the top right-hand corner of the database and select “Calendar.” In the calendar view, you can see all your scheduled posts, including the date, time, and platform.
Images are an essential component of social media content, so it’s important to include them in your schedule. Notion makes adding images to your social media schedule easy by allowing you to upload them directly to the database.
To add an image, click on the “Add a Property” button in the top right-hand corner of the database and select “File.” You can then upload your image and attach it to the relevant post.
Creating a social media schedule is an ongoing task, so it’s important to make the process as repeatable as possible. Notion allows you to create templates that you can use to quickly create new posts in your social media schedule database.
To create a template, click on the “Add a Page” button in the top left-hand corner. Then select “Template.” You can then design your template with the relevant properties and save it.
When you’re ready to create a new post, simply click on the “New” button in the top right-hand corner and select “From Template.” You can then choose the template you created and fill in the relevant details.
Using Notion to create a social media schedule can save time and make the process much more manageable. By creating a database, mapping it out in a calendar, adding images, and making the process repeatable, you can streamline your social media strategy. And ensures that you’re consistently delivering quality content to your audience.
